Lazy lazy...
Am supposed to send out quite a couple of resumes today but my usual procrastination leads me to me to juggle writing 2 proposals for future AYP events, burning CDs and printing the proposals at 4am in the morning. So, the hunt for CPF-deductable employment takes a backseat for the moment.
Hopefully, all goes well. We've got more shows and more exciting acts to feature. Still exploring some venues, well, when I could get my arse off the ground...
In other related news,
The Love Experiment will be playing 2 gigs next month. One at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre on Thursday 24 March on the eve of Good Friday. Pop by before going down to church. We take the stage at 7:30pm.
The Jerms will be headlining the stage. This is part of the Indie-pendent Weekend, organised by Music For Good. I love playing that stage. Great crowd and equipment. Hopefully, we dun cock up as much as the time we did for the "Spread The Love" gig. We still wanna play at the venue more man!!!
We'll be probably playing the same set of tunes as the Jan gig, taking out the drum'n'bass 'Osmosis' (until I get my audio interface, I reckon) and probably, the
Chuck Berry rip-off, 'Love Conquers All' (
Alvin hates the tune but the chicks love it. That mutha...) We should be playing 2 new tunes, one which sounds like local jazz-fusion band,
Throb and
Beck (but of cuz, not as goot lah...) and a new tune which I swear
Yeeyong wrote under the influence of hearing too much
Interpol. We are trying to funkify it to sound more post-disco. You know lah, we are all about the groupies. And like what the kids in
Franz Ferdinand said, "we wanna write music which makes girls dance." That's a mission statement, I swear... I mean, I can so see
Eva Longoria giving me a private lap dance. Wooo wooo...
Nowadays, we'll usually choose a cover to slot into the setlist. I've always wanted to go with
Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love'. I reckon even if we can pull off her part, we still can't do
Jay-Z's rap bridge part. We are currently still choosing.
On Saturday 26 March, we should be playing at this pub called Prince of Wales Backpacker pub in Little India. Our friend who put this event together is getting 3 acts. He's still deciding on the 3rd while I heard that we are opening for
Ugly In The Morning which is a fucken fantastic live act, coupled with amazing vocal harmonies. I think we are pretty screwed for that gig. Hehehe...
Am counting down the days when
Melvin gets his ass back in town. Itching to start recording the demo. Woo hoo... Was thinking of how to play the disco part of a tune. When you play disco (or funk), you gotta use a Strat. Then, I remembered
Sujin's steely eyes when I asked him abt it. Those eyes said, "No one touches my bitch..." Crap, one down. But
Alvin reminded me that he had a Gibson Explorer which I tricked him once to thinking that it was a Strat. Hey, if it works for
Earth, Wind And Fire, it works for me!!!
Cannot wait...
